Appraisal reviews "should decide whether the appraisal or evaluation is fitting for the transaction, the risk of the transaction, and whether the method by which the collateral valuation is acquired ensures independence and quality," as stated by the Federal Reserve. They "should also demonstrate whether the appraisal or evaluation report is consistent with the engagement letter, which describes the capacity of the appraisal assignment." The Federal Reserve also says that "some institutions supplement typical reviews with post-funding evaluations of appraisal quality for a number of their higher-liability or high-value contracts as a method to aid in uncovering valuation dilemmas."
